The Hobbit : An Unexpected Journey Movie Review

A few weeks ago, approximately at the last day of school for this semester, me and some of my mates meetup to watch a movie. We wanted to watch "Habibie Ainun" but after seconds of rethinking with common sense, decided that we were better off to watch The Hobbit. Actually i wanted to watch this movie, my friends didn't know what movie to watch and i took the chance and dragged them to watch this movie with me. I am no Lord of the rings buff but i know a bit about its series stories and lore.

The Hobbit is a somewhat prequel to the first lord of the rings. It tells the adventure that Bilbo Baggins the uncle of the lord of the rings hero Frodo Baggins, undertake with a band of dwarfs and the infamous grey wizard Gandalf. They set on a quest to retake the dwarfs homeland from evil albino Orcs. The movie starts as Bilbo was writing a letter just like in the first movie, then sending Frodo to Gandalf's house which again, just like the first Lord of the rings movie, but then cuts to a flashback of Bilbo's first encounter with Gandalf. Then the movie really starts.

The movie is okay i guess, except for the major cliffhanger at the end where the evil dragon that the dwarf's have to defeat wakes up from an irritating pecker of a bird pecking at the walls of its lair. Guess the creators of the movie wanted to do a saga like starwars which spawned 6 movies and also in this periodical order; Movie. sequel. sequel. prequel to movie, prequel, than the prequel which "completes the saga". But that theory is just a crazy idea that me and the guys popped up.

Overall, the movie was great. It had some great action scenes, crude comedy, and apart from the ending and some of the stories unexplained in the movie... a good story. I am looking forward to the sequel to this prequel, coz i want to know what happened to that damned dragon... and why Bilbo Went evil.

My New Found Hero

That right there!

That is one heck of a showmanship. That video is a small teaser for an Indonesian travel video called "Jalan-Jalan Men!" or sight seeing in English. My friend showed me that video today earlier at class during recess in between the tryouts, and then i thought; hey that guy rocks!

The show is about traveling, now everyone has seen traveling shows but this one is special. Well its special for me because i like the host's attitude. He's just like that college crazy big brother that i never had, i know Adriel is up for stuff like this i just know it.

Anyways, so far the show only consist of 1 season and 1 destination which is Jogja. But i think that there will be more videos in the future.

vibram FiveFingers, a definitive list.

Vibram five fingers (vff), the greatest invention in the world of footwear in my opinion at least. The first time i've ever heard of the guys at vibram were good at was making soles. You know, those things that you put under your shoes for traction. Well anyways my mum heard of the vff's from a magazine that she read about. I thought these were a laughing stock, because at that time i was rocking a pair of nike frees. But after i tasted the sensation of barefoot shoes like vffs, i was hooked.

This is a list of all the vff's i have ever and still owned...

1.KSO

KSO stands for "keeps stuff out", hence the mesh like fabric on top of the shoes. These pair was the first and the best vff i've ever had. I picked this out in Singapore. After my mum read about them in the magazines, the first shop we hit when we arrived in Singapore was an outdoor/ shoe store in Novena. All of my family members; mum, dad, and my sister bought a pair of vff's. I opted for a KSO because the shop keep said that i can use this for ANYTHING.

And anything i did, i ran with my KSO, i walked on rocky terrain ( even though they were such a pain in the foot for the 1st month), stepped on puddles, go to the mall, even go for a dip with them. I was in love allover again, i ditched my pair of nike frees and rocked my KSO's everywhere i go.

But not anything last forever. Because of my hardcore usage of my KSO, a big gouging hole formed on my big toe-sock area. I tried stitching them but the hole just became bigger and bigger. And the soaky rainy days when i stepped on puddles? It made my vff's turn into an atomic stink bomb. The smell was horrible ( according to witness testimonies)

But thankfully, i had that trip to Singapore with my classmates and my parents and sister happens to be in Singapore for a uni survey for my sister in Curtin. And my mum bought me a new pair of vibrams; the Komodo sport.

2.Komodo sport

The komodo sport was at that time, the latest vff engineered for running and mostly indoor gym activities. I was thrilled to test drive them out in Universal studios Singapore and they fell great. The soles on the komodo are made into a groove like shape, unlike the foot-like shape on the previous KSO.

They were hella comfortable but they have a minor downside; versatility and durability. Like i said before, these vff's are made for cross training and running, but i used them just like my old KSO's. The thicker fabric makes it harder for the shoe to dry off after a dip in water, wetness means dampness, which then leads to my foot stench. Next, the shoe has an inner sole inlay cushion which in time, the glue will weaken and then you get that unwell sensation of loose fabric in your toes.

But still, the komodos were a good change of scenery, at least i dont have a big hole on my toes pockets.

3.The FLO

The Komodos were ok, but i still prefer the feel of the KSO. And as a matter of fact, there is another variation of the KSO which is engineered for watersport activities. Because of this they use a neoprene ( wetsuit material) for the shoe. I wanted to try these out because they have a sole similar to the KSO but a different material.

As you know vff's are hard to come by from a legit distributor in Jakarta, and my mums friend is going to Singapore, i managed to slip a pair of FLO in the "shopping list" that my mum gave to her friend. I was psyched to get try them on as soon as they arrive home, but alas my mums friend bought me THE WRONG SIZE. I wear vffs size 44, and vff's are true fit so a 45 would not fit me and they would feel sluggish.

My foot would feel awkwardly weird each time i wore them because of the size problem. Because of this i stopped wearing them for the first 4 days and have not tried them again since. I still keep them around just in case my dad wants to wear them (he wears 45) or maybe when i grow up.

4. The Classics

The classics, my current vff. The classics are actually the first ever vff ever made by vibram, even before the KSO. When my mum bought me the Komodo, she bought herself a classic and i was eager to try a classic too. Because of the "open" design, i mostly use them for walking around and for casual wear. Although the teachers at school sometimes mind me wearing them, i wear them to school anyways just for good measure.

Now, i bought a smartwool classic. Smartwool is the material, its actually just normal wool but with a catchier name. Now smartwools tend to be tighter the first time you bought them. When i first bought them and tested them out on the streets of orchard, they were a pain, even though i am an experienced vff user. After a quick research to birthdayshoes.com , the smartwool classics tend to be 1 size down than normal vff sizing. But with a quick heel inversion technique, the classics stretched a bit and my feet were feeling better than before, with the few occasional slags however.

What about you? are you a vff user? whats your favourite vff?
If your not a vff user than i highly recommend you get a pair right this instance, do a google search though, because i heard that there is a new 2013 model coming up next spring which is a mix of the KSO and the classic, my two best vibrams ever!

Roads less traveled

Since today is a saturday, i decided to go out with my uncle and his wife today. I dont know for whatever reason, but we wanted to go to central park today. Actually my mum and uncle wanted to go there, they were wondering what the whole fuzz is about in that place. After filling up my uncles bettle, we head off with the livina to central park mall. But to our suprise, when we opened google maps all the traffic records in the roads were BLOOD RED which means they are all clogged up.

The Bintaro toll was clogged so we wanted to head through the mebon jeruk toll through the backroads. But the backroads were also clogged up. One turn led to a detour which took us on a roundy round road to ciledug which was also clogged up. The auntie was giving off sour faces to my uncle for his choice of roads, i just kept to myself and focused on driving the damn car. But eventually we reached a small road which leads to taman anggrek and that means we only need about 5 minutes drive to central park from there...theorethically. But since the traffic was horrible it took us 15 minutes :p

Anyways we arrived in central park all starving, we had a "snack" in burger king and also to meet up with my dad who has managed to sneak off from his symposium in Cipto hospital. Central park looked a lot like vivo city singapore, or at least it tried to. The place was chock full of people and the toilets were dirty because the cleaners dont have a chance to clean because people kept using the potty. Parking connections were also a bit messed up, they had 2 LG levels which were below ground levels, they were seperated by half a level and the mall entrances were not strategically placed.

But out of those cons the place had, central park has a gem hidden under its sleave, yes you guesed it, an actual central park. The center of the mall was a park which was surrounded also by the pullman hotel and there were many restaurants around it. The place is such a great photo op place, especially after the sun goes down. The trees were covered in neon and it looked like the roads in alam sutra in BSD.

Overall todays small adventure to central park was not worth it in my opinion. Sure the place is nice with its wide collection of shops there, but the road getting there was too far if you live down south, and there were no luxury boutiques like LV and dior...not that i go to those minds of shops or anything. But todays jouney isnt all the buzzkill, after all getting to hour destination is already half the fun right?

But what do you think about central park mall? Is it a good place to hang in? Maybe for the people living near the mall...

EOS digital

Now what goes through your mind when you see that picture? is that moving thing photoshoped? well it looks photoshoped but it isnt. Is Keanu taking on photography? heck yeah.

My sister used to be an amateur photographer during her highschool days and she invested in a canon 450d dslr camera. She hasnt used it for a while and the things been sitting inside the moisture box ever since. I always wanted to use a dslr the right way but i havent tried to until now.

I took some pictures with the "P" settings or program to give me a bit of control over the usual auto settings my dad used when he takes photo with this little nugget.I may need a bit of practice and i should probably invest in some photoshop practices to edit the color schemes etc. I have a friend who's taking a photography major in Lasale, hope he can teach me a couple of stuff...

Things are good

Im back in my rightful office A.K.A in my room, writing to you all in this wonderful mercredi. Why am i not in school you ask? Well for once today i dont have any apparent reason to skip, i mean not go to school. I have an appointment with my friends flagyl forte, and parolit. My stomachs not really felling good this morning and my mom told me to stay at home, and because she's a doctor and all i decided to follow her instructions. So if you asked me why Im at home... doctors orders.

In other news, my missing red yoyo is back. I've located it under the piles of books on my desk that i dont bother to make up. It was there since I moved in to my room. Im glad its back because those things cost quite a dime a pop. Im ggonna get my ID sorted out too today because im free for the day. Hopefully i can still drop by LaREC today to attendd my writing course.

But until 9 o clock, let the lolly gagging begin!

Breaking dawn part two

Its Sunday so that means heres a new movie review.Well i wont be doing this every Sunday but earlier this evening, me and my family just happen to watch it on the theater. As we all know this is the final movie in the saga. The producers thought that they can deny the inevitable by making a part one movie just like that harry potter movie. And it worked, but only for a time. They had to make this movie because if they dont, then we will only have a dying Bella and a vampire baby that we dont know about.

I'll be frank with you, i am a fan of the twilight saga but only the movie.I dont know why but i just love seeing it.Because of this i will leak out some of the spoilers to this movie.... Jacob took of his clothes in the early parts of the movie! There i said it.Anyways the movie continued just as it was left off on the last breaking dawn movie.Bella is bitten and turned into a vampire by Edward cullen in order to save her from her bloodthirsty hybrid baby that is eating Bella from the inside during carriage. The baby Renesme, grew in a inhumanly phase and when she was roughly about a toddler and was seen playing with Jacob and Bella by Irina, another vampire and was thought to be an immortal child.

Immortal childs have to be killed according to the coven rules, but Renesmee isnt an immortal child because she wasnt bitten when she was turn, she just came out that way.The vampire high council back in Italy heard of this news and went in to kill her off.But bella and Edward didnt want their baby killed, so they gathered vampires from accross the world to bare witness that Renesmee isn't an immortal child.

At the end of the movie, there was this big fight between the vampires from the council and the vampires and warewolfs that are united by the Cullens. This sequence of the movie was full of head snapping, body burning, and dog face munching.Even i really thought that it wasnt gonna end in a bloodbath i mean it is the final movie and i was expecting a happy ending... not this. The good vampires are dwindeled in number and some of the wolfpack members are killed to including Seth and Irina, Jacob was running away from the fight while carrying Renesmee away to Washington.Vut then Edward and Bella is able to snap off the councils head off and when Bella was about to burn his head suddenly reality snaps back and it was back to the beginning of the fight!Apparently Alice gave the high council leader the "future" if he had gone off and attacked the good vampires. What a Mindf*&k!.

The movie ends by Jacob, Edward, Bella and Renesmee hugging each other as they said farewell to their global vampires friends. And when the Christina Perri song played, it was back to Bella and Edward in the flower field having a reminiscence from the first time they met in highschool, the car crash, Edwards failed attempt at suicide, their marriage, and all those other things that happen in the past.I like that part of the movie, it almost makes me cry because it was the last movie that all the actors would play in the twilight saga.Well at least Jacobs still got that awesome 6 pack.

Oh and there is another version of "a thousand years" song where a dude sings together with Christina during the credits roll.I am tasked to find it for my mom, which i havent begin to search for...

This is... Dishonored

Dishonored is Bethesda's new first person-stealth action game developed by Arkane studios that emphasizes on choice. The whole game is based on choice. So many choices that you feel like you have to think before you kill that one guard in front of you.

The game tells a story about Corvo Atano, the once trusted royal bodyguard of the empress of Dunwall, that is framed for her murder and abduction of the empress's daughter, the rightful heir to the throne.Corvo sets out on a quest to clear his name now as an assassin with supernatural powers such as teleportation, x ray vision, the ability to bend time, etc.May i point out that the city of Dunwall is also having a plague outbreak that is also killing half of the city, making the game a bit more dark.

The first thought i had when i put the disc in the ps3 tray is that i will see some washed out art style that has been used in Bethesda's previous games, but to my surprise the game looks like a refreshed team fortress with a bit of half life 2 on the side.As i did a little research, i now know where the art comes from; Viktor Antonov, the visual design director who is also in charge in City 17, and above all the technologies in half life 2.The games main designer are the guys who made Deus Ex human revolution, hence the games Choice mechanism.

this reminds me of the walkers of half life 2 and a bit of portal touch.
The enemies vary from watch guards, to religious watch guards, then to some plague victims, etc.More enemies are introduced further in the game but the majority of the enemies are all the 3 above. The city is your sandbox, the whole level is so open world, even though this is actually a scripted level. After killing or neutralizing your target, you can go and explore the rest of the level before going back to your boatman and ending the game.

Burn baby

Heres a bit of spoilers for you; you can beat the game without killing a single soul, and you will get an achievement for it.Of course for my first play through i did not go this route because i accidentally stabbed an old lady in the neck and dropped a guard to the rat cages. You can go out and do a killing spree but then more rats will be in the city due to the dead bodies, and that means a more darker ending. The game also focuses on the stealth parts which require you to get creative while choosing your infiltration route to your target. The powers are upgradable and you get an assortment of skills to choose from your base skill the "blink" or teleportation. My favorite is dark vision, which allows you to see through walls and see your enemies line of sight.

Overall the game is quite entertaining, i've finished the game on a low chaos and got a good ending, now im trying for a higher chaos level which will give me a bad ending.Dishonored is a game about assassins, but it is no assassins creed.Dishonored is a game that lets you let targets live, but then makes you feel awful because that person is now banished and has the plague. The game isn't low on action either so it is sure to get you pumping and screaming as you play.Long story short, 450.000 rupiah well spent.

Jakartas street food night life

Tonight is a scheduled operation date of my dads and it so happends to be the muslim new years eve.To celebrate this wonderfull ocation my mum and i tagged along for a ride to the Coet Moetia mosque in menteng.

At the mosque we did our Magrib prayers and we read the new years prayer afterwards. The Cut moetia mosque i highly recommend for a place to pray in menteng because it has a distinct atmosphere that you surely will love.

After we dropped dad at the clinic in Raden saleh, me the lord and mummy continued our journey to the heart of sabang home of the now degraded department store...Robinsons, yes we have robinsons here in Jakarta but they really let the place go and now its an open air 3 story store which sells stuff almost the same as mall blok m.We didnt want to stop in sabang but we had to because the Mrs. Wanted some sate padang there.

Afterwards is the main event, mutton fried rice in Kebon sirih. The place is very popular and a staple for me and the lord each time we go to central Jakarta.Tonight is a weekend night and thus the place was packed. So packed that we decided to take out and eat in the car.Apperarently there was a line there because they actually ran out of fried rice and is forced to cook some more.Because of this freshed cook rice, i can still taste the mutton and...the...you guessed it, the samin oil.I dont know why, but almost all of the street stalls that either sells fried rice, martabak, and other middle eastern food uses samin oil.I can still taste it right now.

Right now i am typing this in my car parked at a Sederhana Padang restaurants parking lot while my mum chows down on some chicken porridge from accros the street, waiting for my dad to finish his operation.I didnt bring my laptop and trying out my new Blogger app which is quite nice actually. But i dont know how this post will end up online.Oh well.

Good day at home

Oh my god its been almost 2 weeks or more now since i've "properly" went to school.and by "properly" i mean i go to school and complete the cycle for a whole week. The cambridge exams are on and they are all mostly scheduled at around 2 o clock in the afternoon, and because of that i dont go to school during a scheduled exam date like today.

Mostly this is a good thing but now im in the 12th grade which means lots of things to do before the final national exam. To make things worst, i've skipped up on most of the materials being studied today at class AS WE SPEAK.For all i care i just need to catch up on my Physics and Chemistry...and biology, maybe math, and dont forget that Indonesian language assignment i've managed to hold on until now, oh my god there are so much things to do!

But i will hold on to my commitment for now and that means i need to concentrate on my cambridge exams, which means more school skipping, er i mean study at home :D

Roof Party

Alright its almost the 20th of November and that means its almost my birthday woot! I am thinking of throwing a party at my new home to celebrate my coming of the age 17, or we can call it my sweet 17th birthday party. My house has a big livingroom downstairs and all but i want to make this year special, it is the year where i get my VALID id after all.

As i just recognized, the house has an extra half floor above the second one which is a roof duct. The place looks sick because i can set it up into a rooftop party with music, and lights, and all that party stuff. The place could probably hold around 50 to 70 people tops because we have to consider the size of the place, i dont want anyone taking a fall from up there and down onto my pool area because that could end up nasty.

As of right this second i've only invited one person to the party but lets see how the list go on as we progress to the big day.As for alcohol, well there wont be any because i dont drink, and again i dont want any guest pissed drunk and then taking a spill down to the ground, that would be bad for my profile...

They're ACTION figures...

When i moved in to my new house all the stuff are packed tight and stored away for transport. These stuff include some of my toys which means a lot to me.Today was chemistry paper 4 day and i had the morning off to myself.I decided to rearrange the figures that are forcefully arranged by Mr sito and wife.

The Lego Bionicle

Over the course of my childhood my parents have always bought me lego for my source of toys. For some reason they wont let me buy "pre built" plastic toys like those digimon action figures back in the day.But alas lego's are made from plastic so that throws away that theory.Since i can remember, i have collected dozens of lego series dating back to knights kingdom, but bionicle's have always been my passion.Out of the countless bionicles which i have, these guys are the one's still in complete form and located near my general vicinity, the rest of the lego's are stored in containers throughout the house.
The Toa inika in a complete set of 6 which my mum bought for me back in 2010 in a lego convention in Senayan city. They were out for Rp 1.200.000 for the 6 which made them 200 a piece.I would love to tell you the complete story back from the beginning but im just too damn lazy.Long story short the toa's are heroes in the bionicle world and the toa inika are the 2nd to last generation of toa's inside the universe, although there are more toa's in alternate dimensions but i focus primarily on the core story of bionicle. There are also 2 other figures which are the successor of the green and white toa you see on the picture above, but the white one is missing in action and the green one is incomplete and missing his gun, probably still attached to the white one.

The army dudes

Alright now onto the big guns. These 2 are the ONLY complete action figures who are legitimately accurate to their counterparts in the service and in 1/32 goodness.Well not that accurate but you get the idea. The first army figure i got is the one in green camo on the right, it was at the 5th jakarta toys and comic fair.I didnt bought him complete in one go, it took me 2 years to finally put him together.Between the completion of the jungle warfare captain, i bought the figure on the left NAKED, no weapons, no vest's, only clothes. But i managed to complete him together with the jungle camo guy and they have been like this ever since.I have some other accessories stored away in compartments also and a naked figure of Pierce Brosnan somewhere in the containers waiting to be unveiled also.

Oh and i would like to notify that these are not dolls, they're ACTION figures okay? enough said.

Making Time

Every Monday morning i wake up, get ready for school, breakfast, then school, home, the occasional tutor meets, a little tv or internet time, then bed.Everything is like clockwork, except for this morning because there was a Cambridge exam in the afternoon and i decided to stay at home and not go to school until the exam starts.I run a tight schedule but i still managed to goof off in the downtimes because... i make time.

If the tutor arrives at 5 then i play playstation until 5, that big quiz at school starts at 4th period then i play fifa with the boys at the back of the class until then. They say that time cant be made because it is physically impossible, well it actually is but my point is we can make the most of the time we have here on earth by fiddling in some time for our self's.Sure the Cambridge exam is big and important and all, but why throw away your social life for around 1 half hours of writing into dull exam papers?

Bandung Roadtrip

Today at November 4th 2012, one of my late grandfathers baby brother passed away.Apparently he had a hard attack and never came back from it, rest in peace. The funeral is set in Bandung and since nobody can plan death, my family who just moved in to our new home sets off to Bandung to attend the funeral.Me, i was just excited to go to Bandung because i am such a facetious person.

Bandung can be reached by a 1 half hour car ride through the Cipularang toll.Cipularang is a very dangerous place because the roads are unstable and it has claimed many life throughout its completion. That's why we say our prayers when we cross one of its bridges to keep us safe.It didnt take long before we arrived and had to look for the cemetery. The cemetery is said to be near the Cikutra Heroes memorial area. One of my auntie said on the phone to turn left at the memorial. We did and we were sent up a narrow road up a hillside area when we finally stopped when we think that we are going nowhere. We called my mums big bro who is a local there and he told us to turn RIGHT at the memorial.Apparently his wife, the one we just called before did not know where we were from when we hit the memorial.

We didnt waste any time at the cemetery, we just arrived, then climbed up the stairs in the cemetery to get to the burial site, arrived exhausted, say hi to the remaining family members near the grave, say our prayers to my deceased grandfather's brother, then head on down back to our car and went away to the funeral home to say our condolence to the wife and daughter of the deceased. It only took us around 10 minutes in the funeral home where we say our goodbye's and let the fun begin!

We head off to buy a Bandung pastry specialty which is the soes merdeka.Soes merdeka is a famous brand in Bandung, they make one of the best soes in the world.Soes is some kind of Dutch pastry that we Indonesians localize to meet our standards which means adding more rum in the cream mix.The soes are like the ones my mum used to make, except that mum isn't an alcoholic like the mad pastry chefs at soes merdeka.Nevertheless they still taste great and we love em.

The next spot to hit is to have lunch because we are so hungry. Now here's a a real Bandung thing; the popular menu that they eat there are batagors, bakso, noodles, and for drinks strawberry juice. The most famous joint to have all of the above besides the strawberry juice is batagor Kingsley. My cousin is friends with the owners of the place and we've been regulars there ever since our first trip there. The place is always packed and even we have to wait for a table, fortunately we didnt wait long before we got a table. My mum and i had the batagor kuah which is an insult to my driver the lord.He thinks that its wrong to have something that is supposed to be eaten fried, eaten with soup.Well he does have a point because batagor means "baso tahu goreng" which means fried meatballs and tofu.My sister had a batagor and my dad ate some meatball noodles. And for the Lord, well i bet you already know the answer.

Before we went home, we bought some cake at another famous pastry shop in Bandung called kartika sari.I didnt like any of the cake's they made because i'm no fan of boiled brownies or layered rainbow cakes. My dad insisted on praying at a nearby mosque before hitting the highway back home.So we did at the An nuur mosque. The place is quite nice, it has a cool atmosphere, clean, and a wooden floor. Alright this is the 2nd mosque i've been to in Bandung which has wooden flooring and i now have a theory that good mosque's in Bandung have wooden flooring planks...noted.
We arrived at the toll just as this big freak storm happens on the highway.Sure it does not look that bad on the picture but it was if you were there with me.And it was on the Cipularang part too which made it 100 times scarier.I was scared that the car would slip up and fell of a cliff, but luckily that didn't happen and we were back in our homes safe and sound ready to meet my mums other brother back at home. Here's another picture of the storm...

look at that bad boy...

iPhone Historia

The iphone has been around since forever as i can remember them.I bought my first one in 2010 and have been an iphone user since. These are the stories about them.

The 3g

I bought this baby when everyone thinks that the iphone wasn't worth it.After market sales drops drastically because demand for them was so low, back then everyone were using their blackberries and they were all the rage.My dad offered me to buy a blackberry but i refused and went with this guy.I learned EVERYTHING from this 3g.I learned how to jailbreak my phone, mess it up in the process, learned the crappy apple phone policy, and then even learned how to restore the phone back to "out of the box" state.I opted for a thick sports silicone case for the iphone because i like the added safety it gave me,
The years pass or actually about 8 months passed and the iphone 3gs came out on sale, a few months later the iphone 4 came out and then my 3g was officially outdated.New apps became less efficient and laggy on my phone because they were optimal for the newer iphones but not my old 3g.But i sticked around with my 3g and still runs it jailbroken, and i tweaked it to seem "faster" but it only seemed faster when i switch pages between my apps screen, not faster in hardware terms.

The 4s

After the iphone 4 was squeezed out by apple, came the 4s.My parents bought my sister a 4s for her birthday.Because the 4s had a new app called siri pre-installed i was eager to try it out on my sisters new phone.I liked siri because it can talk, no really it talks.Other than that, the phone was faster, newer, and above all... faster. It can run games in high definition and has a faster processor and more RAM than my old 3g.
My parents, seing that i play around with my sisters 4s a lot, decided to buy me a 4s so i would not bother her again. It was a school night and i just arrived late from school, my mum suddenly barged out the bedroom door and asked me how to turn "it" on."it" turns out to be my new 4s, i thought that it was some kind of new gps system because it has a damn thick case which is cool but kind of a bother in your pockets coz the home buttons constantly gets pushed accidentally and then siri began talking inside my pockets. But with the flaws i still love this phone because its new and i can run some newer apps on it FASTER.

I still keep my 3g around because i cant throw it away, not after it taught me all the important lessons in iphone using, jailbreaking, etc.Maybe i would make some "guy destroys iphone" video on youtube and get rid of the 3g that way, but that seems pretty unlikely.

The Best Bread In The World

Alright, its Idul adha and my sister is coming back from school for the holidays or about 10 days. There are some things that my mum wanted her to grab for my mum before she hopped on the airplane and went back home. But under all those magazines, korean drama movies, and lipsticks lies a diamond in the rust...The BEST bread in the world!!

These babies are the bomb. They are ok by them self's, but even better when they are combined with your favorite bread spread. My favorite spread is the laughing cow cream cheese, but you can use whatever you want on them and they still taste awesome. The loafs are made by Gardenia, a famous bakery who makes marvelous breads... what you dont know them? google them! How dare you insult the people who makes this wonderful creation appear in the face of the earth for you and i to enjoy!
Aside from the best bread in the world, my sister also brought me and my mum a "dirty" springwash by Lush.Lush used to have an outlet in Jakarta, but they closed down due to minor problems and then we never bought another soap from them.I've seen the normal and small bottle for this thing, but i didn't know they have a big bottle version!I was so surprised but happy at the same time because my skin could feel fresh, minty, and tingly after my shower... no, it really says that on the bottle.

Moving Out Plans

Right now i am still leaving with my parents at my uncles house in Pondok indah while he and his wife lives in Bintaro,But now he is planning on redecorating the house so we had to move out.The prime candidate for our new home location is my dads old house a couple of blocks away from my home right now.The condition of the house is in an unlivable state per our family standards, lots of dirt everywhere, no greenery, paint peeling off and crusty, etc.So to make our living space more livable, we are also redecorating our new "old" house.

Here's a little history recap. The house was originally my grandfathers, he design it himself and built it to his standards.I used to live there when i was in elementary school while we waited for my other house in Cipete being built. The place is not bad, when you left out some of the creepy area's in the house. But my dad says that because we are descendants of my grandfather then the "security" in the house wont bother us.Well even if i don't believe stuff like that, just hearing the reassuring words of my dad makes me feel better.

The house is being painted, and some of the dirt dug up to make space for some of the tree's my mum is going to import from our house right now.Today my dad got the afternoon off so we can check out whats happening on the projects.I brought my Penny board so i can cruise around the house in style.Today my dad checked out some of the paintwork thats done while making some measurments to make sure our furniture fits inside the rooms. We planned on living in the second floor while leaving most of the first floor bedrooms the same to anticipate my grandmother barging in uninvited (no offense grandma).I got to get a separate room and plan on moving a piano and my drumkit inside. But im also considering using my grandpa's old office as a whole music room so that i can get more room in my bedroom.

With all the thought of the renovations though, we decided to take thins slow on moving.Just let the flow go and enjoy the process because in the end we are going to live there for some reason:D. We are scheduled to move there this "big" moon, or whatever the hell that means...

Taking the math test... again

Today is the beginning of the cambridge exams, and what better way to celebrate it with doing paper 1 of mathematics.Of course i studied before the exam, as i always do.But last year the exam was so hard that i got a U for math, and i cried when i got the results.

Today i did not go to school because i had to prepare for the exam on my own.Neither that, or i was just so lazy and didnt want to go to class.Either way i went so SMAN78 to take the test, because my school is not a designated Cambridge exam center.I went there at around 1 o clock and met up with my friends there taking the test also. There aren't many of us taking the test, only 6.

As soon as the test began at 2.30 PM, i scrambled and did the questions.Amazingly out of 11 questions, i did 8 to 9 questions which is almost a 100% increase from last years 4 questions answered. The test was not that hard, hopefully i would get a good mark for this part of the math test. There are 3 more math papers and a hole lot of biology, physichs, and chemistry papers. But until the 19th of October, its smooth sailing from here.

Should i take my mid semesters or what...

Weekend Recap

Its Sunday night and i have to face the facts that tomorrow i will be going back to my regular routines.Wake up, got to school, then back home, maybe study for Cambridge, then bed.But before go to sleep tonight, i always have a quick recap of the things happening during my saturday and sunday weekends.

Yesterday i watched Gandang's band play at Skyavenue 12, of course almost no one besides me, his girlfriend, and some of my classmates were the only ones watching his band played because no one hardly knew them. But they played okay, and the bands lead vocalist a looker...(No HOMO).After Skyave, i went to Bintaro to meetup with my family.Had a break then off to Kharina's birthday party at Menteng. The party's at Gandy's steakhouse which is some sort of family restaurant shimadadong, but i get to hang with some of my friends there. The downside was i had to drive my friends Dhira and Riri back home, well not to their houses.Dhira was picked up by her dad near Brawijaya, as for Riri, well i dropped her off at her house.

Sunday morning was slow, i woke up, then checked out my "new old house" in Metro alam. Its in the same neighborhood as my house right now, but a bit more near PIM.We are scheduled to move there in a couple of months now. Then we head off to Gancy for Lotte mart. After that i pretty much stayed at home, and now im writing this blog post, reminiscing about the stuff i did on my weekends.

Oh and i also did this cool little artwork for Gandang's band, he said he wanted help making his bands logo, but he rejected this picture because he didnt dig the owl, haha...

Fun squeezed into tight schedule's

look at her, no not the girl in the background...
Its October now, and my Cambridge A level exams are starting. With the exam days coming, my studies for the Cambridge curriculum are doubled, heck tripled because of the lack of materials already studied by me and some of my friends. Its been a couple of weeks when i've come home late because of the constant tutorial times scheduled after school hours are finished. My head is streesed during the weekdays, and i have only 1 and a half day of full relaxation. Not to mention some of the KTSP stuff that i am also studying...

But its not just about getting good grades for the exam, you cant just study all the time, you HAVE to have some fun time's also to release stress.Even those little moments you had laughing from nonsensical events happening around you.Today during English, Nindra and i reenacted, or at least tried to reenact the sinking of the titanic. While i was still listening to my English teacher Nick talk about Toefl stuff, me and Nindra is making the paper miniature of the titanic from scrap parking tickets and flazz reciepts. The results is mostly adequate.

Since it was the titanic, we thought that it has to sink somehow. So we ended up doing this...

JPG Bike trail Riding

I was supposed to write this yesterday, but due to the fact that i was pretty damn tired after riding the trails with my uncle and his friend's, i had to take the rest of the day off.

On Saturday night, my uncle dropped by my house and said that he was going to do some trail riding with his friend's on the JPG bike trails and then a trip to UI in Depok.I needed something to do so i tagged along with him.I drove up to his house in Bintaro Sunday morning and arrived at around 6.30 in the morning. We prepped up, meet up with the rest of the group and then set off to the JPG trails.

When my uncle said that we were going for a stroll on mountain bikes, apparently he was talking pro standards. The road getting there was mediocre, nothing difficult not counting some of the harsh ascends though. But when we arrived in the trails, the "fun" really begins.Sharp turns, mixed together with steep inclines INTO sharp turns, and the crazy bumpy ascends uphill, and then criss - crossing trails just enough for the bike tires to barely grip on.As it was my first time riding there, i chickened out on some of the obstacles because i haven't the courage to go past them.

After we were quite satisfied (actually, after THEY are satisfied...) we head off intentionally to UI, but we stopped a quater way there, because my uncle thinks that we (me) are tired and cant stand the heat. What makes me tired isn't the distance, its just the climate, i cant stand the hotness of the scorching sun.So we head back and go around the back dirt trails of serpong, across a railroad track, through small steel bridges across rivers, and then an uphill climb back to the JPG bike trail start point. We had a break and drink some coconut water ( which was a bad idea because it will make your body feel weak), then we head back to Bintaro and had breakfast at a pecel joint near my uncles house.

Overall the trip was okay, my uncle thinks that i can do better with a little more practice here and there, also work on my technique and so on...
Had to admit that even though the bike riding did make me tired, it did bring some new scenery and a change of pace. From the urban buildings and suburbs, i rode to hillside area's, and rice paddy's which are wonderful. And even go through some of the happy villagers home along the trails and backroads, which is a new experience to me, but it helped me experience a whole new neighborhood that i have NEVER went through.I may be tired, but at least im happy...

...Or not...

Saturday night at Le maison

Hey guys,

I've just arrived from a meet up with "Z" my math tutor and my friend Kharina in the shoppes area of Pondok indah. She studies there with Z and i happend to be in the neighborhood ( actually i was at home doing nothing) so i grabbed my skateboard and went of to meet them. Good thing Her family was kind enough to drop me off back at my place, because riding my skateboard through busy traffic at night is probably gonna be hell.

Anyways, my uncle dropped by to try out his mountain bike app for tomorow morning.I asked if i can tag along, he said okay. That means i will be tagging along with him and his friends tomorrow morning riding mountain bikes from bintaro to the forest near depok.Knowing my uncle, this is not gonna be a smooth road adventure so i'll best be prepared !

The DNA series

My Biology teacher gave my class a group assignment, to make a DNA series. Yes, a freakin DNA series, from paper, toothpicks, softboard nails, and some stylofoam (actually it needs some wine bottle plugs, but they are so damn expensive). Knowing the complexity of the assignment, i quickly group up with the people i know who likes to do school stuff quickly; Kharina and "JP". The assignment was given last friday and due tomorow or monday, we wanted to do them quickly so we had to do them this week. But because of the constant tutorials i need to endure, i cannot do the assignment on monday untill wednesday, we have to do it today.

The group opted for my house as prime location to meet up and do the damn DNA thing.I had to cut the stylofoam into 48 individual round pieces, then JP had to paint them while Kharina makes arrangements and cut out the dna base from cardstock. After those are done, we grouped up to put them all together into one big DNA series. At around 7 P.M we were done, or we thought we did, because the nails cant hold up the toothpicked stylofoam and the whole series crippled and Kharina decided to break down the whole thing altogether and start all over, but this time we double taped the stylofoam to the paper square ( god help you to figure what that thing is), and then nail them.To my surprise, the workaround worked and we were glad to have this finished...
Sure the thing looks shaky, but it holds so that will have to do, lets just hope that we dont have to twirl the thing tomorow at class. Also i will be going to school late at around Friday Prayer time because im just that lazy to go to school :p

Piano covers

The video up there is one of the things that inspired me to start playing the piano again after a long time of piano vacuum. The reason i stopped was because i was getting sick of playing the classics that i dont really like playing, after seing somebody play a pop song on the piano, i had to play again. So far i am able to play the song "somewhere only we know" on the piano almost like the cover up there, but playing the piano is a form of self expression, so it doesent really matter.

I am thinking of making some videos of me playing the piano, and then posting them on the youtube, but i havent got the time and the courage to do so (peer pressure and all). But what do you think? should i post some vids of me playing?

Resident Evil 6 Demo

Resident evil, who hasn't heard of the resident evil series? Ever since the game came out on the PS1 , it has gathered an army of fanboys from all over the world.Resident evil is a survival horror game containing many amount of zombies and monsters of all kind. The zombies are not your ordinary "back from the dead" zombies, but a "raised in a lab" zombie, or call it simply bio weapons.I didnt get the chance to play the resident evil 5 on the next gen consoles, so i was eager to play the 6th installment of the game. The public demo is out now, but i played the exclusive demo included when i bought dragons dogma a couple of months back. The exclusive demo includes gameplay from 3 major characters in the game; Leon, Chris, and Jake.

1.Leon's demo

Leon's demo is staged in a small American college town named tall oaks. The demo starts with leon shooting the games President of the united states because he has turned to a zombie.Leon is filled with grief of shooting the president throughout the whole gameplay. This portion of the demo is centered in the dark story telling theme of the game where "all hope is lost".The level is filled with dark hallways, bloody doors, and a few "scare you" moments scattered in time's where you would'nt even expected it (or expected it).The demo starts getting interesting after the elevator portion, where Leon has to fight off hordes of zombies in an underground parking lot.The demo ends when Leon gets inside a security room and see's 2 college kids getting mauled by zombies.

2.Chris's demo

Chris redfield, former raccoon city S.T.A.R.S. , and BSAA agent is called back to lead a team of special operations unit in cleaning out a town overrun by bio weapons. The Setting in this part of the demo is a Chinese metropolitan rooftop area's.Although the beginning cinematic takes place somewhere in eastern Europe, the gameplay itself skips to the Chinese part. This section of the demo is my favorite because it focuses on the battle's.The constant need to switch to your sidearm when ammo is scarce, the random enemies popping out of staircases and corners, and the amazing finale of the level where Chris and his partner has to fend off hordes of enemies waiting for backup. The enemies here are no flesh eating zombies, but weapon wielding J'arvo's.J'arvo is some sort of word meaning "devil".Although this level features no zombies, the enemies start to mix up when we shoot their masks and they start mutating into either flying monsters or big muscled tanks.

3.Jake's demo

Jake is a new character in the series.Son of Albert Wesker, Jake is a mercenary who is being chased by a bio weapon called "Ustanak", a big scary thing with a bionic arm. This section of the demo demonstrates Resident evil 6 boss fights, this is the only section where i died...only once though. The game starts off with Jake being chased by Ustanak, after escaping the Ustanak (for a minute), Jake goes head to head with Ustanak.Spoiler ALERT: you can shoot the red explosive barrels when Ustanak is near one of them to hurt him, do this a couple of time to complete the level.Jake is supposedly Immune to the C virus, because of Weskers blood, he supposedly developes some kind of super human abilities in the game.In the demo, i see no proof of this power, maybe the developers are saving it for the real game?

In conclusion, this demo is worth my time, it has given me a taste of resident evil 6 and im hungry for more.I havent played through the other 3 character stories in the demo(partners). The demo lets you choose who to control in each story. This game is promising, and i hope that when the real game comes out in 2nd October, the game wont turn out to be a total rip off...

Shooting The Voting sessions

My Nationality teacher (or KWN) gave my class a group assignment. The assignment was to make a short documentary on anything related to politics. My group consist of 7 people; Kharina, "JP", Yobbi, Calvin, Sukma, Gandang, and myself.Since the voting session for the Governor of Jakarta was today, the group decided to take some shots of people near the "TPS" (tempat pemungutan suara) near JP's house in Kalibata.

Her house is located inside the intelligence bureau of Indonesia , since her dads works there.I drove up to her house today bringing my handycam to meet up with the guys there. The first faces i saw there were the security guards at the gate asking what i was doing going to a restricted housing area.I explained to them that i was going to do an assignment with my friend who lives there, and then they let me in, no hassle whatsoever. But Yobbi and Calvin had to drop their citizen id cards for some reason when they went through the gate, since they were the first 2 to go inside. We waited for the rest of the kids to arrive and then we all went to the TPS near JP's house.

Thanks to JP's dad for pulling a few strings with the guys there, we managed to shoot some footage of people doing the voting session earlier today, we also did some interviews with them.We asked a few question to the voters, the committee, and even one of the buffed out military police there who sadly did not get a chance to vote because he is not a Jakarta citizen.I even did a few rounds on my penny board around the TPS which i must say have some excellent smooth roads and wonderful climate. The footage we got has not been edited yet and we may need to add some more to make the movie a bit longer. But until then, here is a picture of one of the people we interviewed...
Rock that hair...

The Guide to Random Photography

Through the course of my life i have taken countless of random or sometimes even incomprehensible photographs with my camera phone. The earliest record was a picture of one of the construction worker working on my house when i was a 6th grader, taken on a nokia 7250.The rest is history, i began snapping pictures in public spaces, sometimes even told not to by the local security. The pictures i took are taken in totally random, non setting situations.Sometimes i just take crap pictures, but when i time it right, the pictures are just playing awesome. To hep you, and other people experience the joy of the art which i self-named "random photography" i have compiled a simple guide to help you get some ideas, as well as tips when doing some rantography.

1.Try and take pictures that You experience

What i mean by experience is, try to take pictures that are connected to your day to day life.Something that you will have to put up with during your 9 to 5 grind everyday.Since i still go to school, some of the pictures i took are themed to a school environment like pictures of the items in my friends backpack that i raided while he was not looking.

2.Timing

This is a key tip when doing rantography, timing. The picture on the right is a very clever example of good timing when snapping pictures.Even though the target ( and myself, inside a double deck bus) are moving in a generally fast speed, the taxi's and the scenery of the sidewalk and the trees are still and not blurry as you would see them if you are moving very fast.Frankly speaking, i was lucky with this one.Which brings us to the next tip...

3.Be at the right place, at the right time...

Taking pictures of your uncle and mother together in one shot is easy, all you need is both of them in the line of sight of your camera, and then take the picture. But taking a picture of your uncle trying to take a picture of your mom on the beach is a little bit tricky, you will have to be with them when they are actually doing the task( does not make sense? then forget it...). Some of the most beautiful pictures are the ones caught unnoticed.

4.If you caught a bad one, just capture another one...

This tip does not only work when capturing pokemons, it also works in rantography. When the picture you get is a shaky one, don't worry, just try and take another one.If the second one is bad and the moment is loss, then maybe the first shaky picture IS the moment.Even though its shaky, YOU still know what it is about, and you can tell other people about it, tell them the story. This tip even though sounds like someone in denial, it could make you fell better at your failures :P

5.Be subtle, and have fun.

Finally, all you have to next is go out to the world and take pictures, have fun while doing it, and share the pictures you took with the people around you, and who knows, you might win some sort of photo contest or something, and say that you took the picture by accident, and laugh as you see the awe faces of the pro photographers you managed to beat.... although it seems unlikely...
